EXCUSE ME! Who gave you permission to grow up?!?
Happy 22th Birthday, Not Quite Grown!!
As a gift, Nick went out this morning and played with a skunk. I put him in your room. You may let him out when you get home. Don't worry, he's just lying on your bed waiting for you!

A taste of Spring
Well, it didn't last long, but there was a whiff of Spring in the air today. And I took advantage of it! Doors and windows were thrown open, sheets were washed and then dried on the line in the breeze, and I finally got around to transplanting my surviving seedlings.
They were a little leggy and I probably should have done this a while ago, so I am hoping that they all survive this stage of their life in my rough and tumble hands.
It was so nice to take all of my potting stuff out onto the porch of my little studio and make a big mess. The dogs romped on the lawn, Sassy bringing me more toys to throw for her to chase. Nick had his own very important dog business to do, but he checked in frequently for a slurp of water and to sniff my transplants.
It is now thundering and going to rain buckets, but before it starts, I checked on the fruit trees. Ah ha! Another sign that spring is surely going to return someday!
The buds on the peach trees tell me that I better figure out what I need to spray on them to prevent the brown rot from getting all my fruit this year. Anybody have a product name I should look for?? The anti-brown rot spray?
On page 271 of the Mommy handbook, it says that we are supposed to share with our children and teach them to share in return. So I sent my snowy weather to my darling daughters, Almost Grown and Not Quite Grown, out in Reno. Now they are getting up to 29 inches of new snow. Of course, I shared my "stuff" while swiping a handful of theirs, so that's how I got a nice sunny day! You are welcome girls! Isn't sharing the best??
Oh! And a big Happy Birthday to MIL who is celebrating her 26th birthday for the third time!! Whoo hoo!

In a fix
Not much but the usual going on around here. My MAC computer is on its last leg, won't "tab", goes dark unexpectedly, etc, but Stud Muffin came to the rescue with a new Sony Vaio. In Lipstick Red. Yum. But now I have to get use to a PC again, and it is taking some time!

The snow has all melted and I'm hoping the ground dries out soon. I need to prune the fruits trees this month before they even think about budding again. Right now, it's all I can do to walk around outside without sinking into the mud.
Also on the fix it list is my hip bursitis. Unfortunately, this time it is in my left hip and not the usual right side. Studly had to drive me to school the other day because I couldn't get my leg into the car! I have now been harpooned with steroids and can stand up straighter, but I gotta tell ya. This growing old stuff is for the birds!!

This is a photo of the actual syringe used by my doctor to treat hip bursitis. Do not try this at home!
Putting in another 8 hours of clinicals at the hospital tomorrow. Hopefully, I won't get another patient who tells me how I'm doing everything wrong! Really beats up on my confidence level!
Last week, I had a turn at the nursing home where I will finish out the semester after spring break. Luckily for me (but not the patient) my patient couldn't talk much and wasn't very aware of her surroundings. Nobody to complain about my technique. Of course, she also couldn't move at all and it took three of us to roll her from side to side. It also took me (and my partner) one and a half hours to bathe her. Still no complaints from the patient, but that is a story for another day!
See? Nothing much going on. The blogosphere is pretty quiet these days. so what's going on with you all?

The shortest update you'll ever want
Just a brief note to update you on my first hospital clinical yesterday (finally!) All was well, I got over my high anxiety and got on with the business of the day. With 10 minutes left before I needed to be back in the classroom for a post-clinical conference, my day unravelled.
All I will say is that it involved a bed bath (given by me) some fecal incontinence (not me), cleaning it all up (me) and an NG tube, known to some as the "nose hose", falling out and on the ground (not me), which had to be reinserted (thankfully, not by or in me.)
Yes, that is all I will say. No, there will NOT be pictures.
You're welcome.
I need sedation!

Killed my first patient...
alright, maybe they were just neonatal plants, but still!
My only excuse is that school hasn't left me enough brain cells to remember to check on them everyday.
I have watered them, an some of the cabbages and celery have rebounded, but I fear the broccoli are DOA.
Then there was this
impeding my progress toward the building where the little guys were basking in their artificial light. Even after a solid night of rain, I still have thick snow on the ground and on Steve the Shed's roof! Go figure.
There is the possibility that it might snow again tonight, but nothing like the East Coast is experiencing. But I hope it doesn't cancel my "first" clinical again. Otherwise, I might have to pull 12 hour shifts in the hospital as a student in order to get my required hours in!!
