::30:: Day 1

Okay, I'm going to be trying something new for me... a post of some sort everyday for 30 days, starting right now. I borrowed stole the idea from a new-to-me blog, Mountain Mama. So I figured, some days will probably be full of pictures and thoughts, other days, not so much, but I'm game to try if you are!!

Today was a day like any other. Morning was spent working on the dreaded "M" project.

Thankfully, this section is getting narrower as I go. It is about 12 feet wide at the front, so progress is slow (cue violins!) The dogs continue to help me, Sassy dropping toys at my feet or under my bottom if I'm crawling around spreading M. She does it even when Studly is outside expressly to throw it for her. He throws, she retrieves, and gives it to me!! Sometimes I wonder if she lost some brain cells during the Great Persimmon Poo-fest!

Sassy did chase a bright blue lizard that ran out of the mulch as I was spreading it. After trying to pick it up in her mouth, I thought she was going to wipe her tongue off on the concrete! Instead, she spit and snorted and then stood on the lizard's tail until it came off! Meanwhile, Nick had stolen Sassy's favorite toy and was basking in the early morning sun guarding the toy! Big helper!

The M pile continues to shrink, and I will probably need another truck load before I get to the backyard! Or, heck, even across the drive which is in direct view of the family room windows! Merry Christmas to me!! One year, it was a rented dumpster, this year perhaps ground up old trees!!

Is it just me, or is this pile beginning to look like a pair of shredded wood breasts??? Stud Muffin... are you building yard art again?!?

On Sunday, Studly, with supervision and adoration on my part, cut up an old cedar tree behind his shop. We hauled the chunks to the house and split them. They need a bit of drying, but boy! do they smell good!!

Ready for the wood pile.

Oh, here is some more cardboard for the flower beds that I got from the Piggly Wiggly today!

And even though it rain all day yesterday, and threatened to again today, I hung a load of laundry out to dry. Still no rain and the clothes dried in about the same time as in the dryer, but for free!!

Dinner tonight will be planned-over beef stew I made last night. It was very tasty and the perfect thing for a soggy day! Besides, stew, soup and chili are all even better the next day. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

S. Muffin here... Yes, those are mulch breasts! And, if any of you in Blog Land ever have the opportunity, you should have some of Lisa's stew. It is quite simply the best there is!!! A dumpster and mulch for Christmas, am I romantic or what!
